Your internet connection might be fast at the router, yet slow in the bedroom. Wi-Fi signals weaken through walls, especially the thick concrete and coral-block walls common in Coastal homes. These steps help.
1. Put your router in the centre of your home
Place it high, in the open, and away from metal cabinets, mirrors and aquariums. Hiding the router in a cupboard costs you speed.
2. Use the 5 GHz band for nearby devices
5 GHz is faster and less congested than 2.4 GHz, but its range is shorter. Keep 2.4 GHz for devices further away.
3. Consider a mesh system
For multi-storey homes or villas, a mesh Wi-Fi system spreads strong coverage evenly. Ask us about mesh add-ons.
4. Plug in when it matters
Smart TVs, gaming consoles and work desktops perform best on an Ethernet cable.
5. Restart and update
Restart your router occasionally and keep device software up to date.
6. Remove unknown devices
Change your Wi-Fi password if you suspect neighbours are using your connection.
7. Test properly
Run a speed test on a cabled device first. If it's fast on cable but slow on Wi-Fi, the problem is coverage, not your connection.
